AMES, Iowa - The Iowa State tennis team (8-6, 0-0 Big 12) will face three teams on the road this week, first taking on UMKC on March 15 at 2 p.m. After facing the Roos, the Cyclones will open Big 12 action facing No. 19 Oklahoma State on March 17 at 1 p.m., followed by No. 50 Oklahoma the next day at noon.
UMKCÂ enters this weekend with a 7-8 overall mark, while the No. 19 Cowgirls are 8-1. OSU defeated the Cyclones, 4-0, last season at the Forker Tennis Courts in Ames. No. 50 Oklahoma is 6-5 this spring.
In its last contest, Iowa State dropped a tough contest against Wyoming, falling 4-3 on the road. Maty Cancini, ISU's No. 1 singles player, captured an impressive win defeating three-time All-Mountain West Conference player Magdalena Stencel, 6-3, 6-3. Karen Alvarez saw action at the match against the Cowgirls, winning both at the No. 3 doubles spot and in her No. 6 singles match. The sophomore went on to defeat the Myiah Scott, 6-3, 6-2, in singles action.
