AUSTIN, Texas – The Iowa State tennis team (9-13, 0-6 Big 12) fell to the No. 5 Texas Longhorns (17-4, 7-0 Big 12), 4-0.
The Longhorns secured the doubles point as No. 45 ranked pairing Petra Granic and Bojana Markovic defeated Maty Cancini and Regina Espindola, 6-2. At the No. 3 doubles spot, Annabella Bonadonna and Karen Alvarez fell, 6-0, to Anna Turati and Chelsea Crovetti.
In singles action, Espindola dropped her match, 6-3, 6-2, to No. 75 ranked athlete Granic. In the No. 4 match up, Rita Timakova fell, 6-1, 6-0 to Perez-Mur. Alvarez, who played as the No. 6 singles player, lost her match to Dani Wagland, falling 6-0, 6-1.
Ekaterina Repina, who faced Markovic at No. 4 singles, trailed 7-5, 3-0, while Cancini was behind No. 27 athlete Turati, 6-4, 2-0, at the No. 1 singles position. Bonadonna's match also went unfinished against Labrana at No. 5 singles, as she trailed the Longhorn, 6-4, 4-0.
