DALLAS, Texas – The No. 23 Iowa State women's golf team is in fifth place after two rounds at the Big 12 Championship at the Dallas Athletic Club.
The Cyclones have a two-round score of 594, seven shots behind 36-hole leader Texas at 587.
ISU was in fifth place after firing a 298 in the opening round. Despite remaining in fifth place after round two, the Cyclones inched closer to the leaders by posting the second-lowest score of the afternoon (296).
Celia Barquin Arozamena is the Cyclone leader, sitting in second place after posting rounds of 73-71 (144).
Barquin Arozamena got hot in the second round, tallying five birdies while making her move up the leaderboard. The two-time All-Big 12 selection is aiming to make the All-Tournament team at the Big 12 Championship for the second-straight year.
Alanna Campbell is tied for ninth at 148. The freshman was the Cyclone low scorer in round one with an even-par 72. Junior Chayanit Wangmahaporn is tied for 15th at 150.
Competitors will take a day off tomorrow and complete the third and final round on Sunday.
