Des Moines, Iowa – The Iowa State tennis team (9-12, 0-5 Big 12) fell to No. 35 Kansas State, (14-5, 4-2) 4-0 on Sunday.
Kansas State secured the doubles point with wins at No. 2 and No. 3, respectively.
Ekaterina Repina and Margarita Timakova fell in their No. 3 doubles match, falling 7-5 to Rosanna Maffei and Ines Mesquita. In No. 2 doubles, Erin Freeman and Annabella Bonadonna lost 6-4 to Maria Linares and Anna Turco.
In singles action, ISU dropped three matches. Freeman, who played at No. 3 singles, fell 6-1, 6-1, to Carolina Costamagna while Timakova lost 6-2, 6-1 to Turco in No. 5 singles action. Bonadonna, the No. 6 Cyclone player, lost 6-1, 6-4 to Mesquita. Although Cancini picked up a 6-1 victory at the No. 1 singles spot, she trailed Margot Decker, 4-5, in the second unfinished set.
Next, the Cyclones will travel to Austin, Texas to face the Texas on Friday, April 13 at 5 p.m. Following their match against the Longhorns, ISU will meet with Baylor on Sunday, April 15 at 1 p.m.
