Cyclones Fall In Singles Action At Florida International Invite

MIAMI, Fla. - After a great showing in doubles on day one of the Florida International Invitational, Iowa State fell in singles action against FIU and Wisconsin on day two.
Ekaterina Grib earned a hard-fought victory against Sandra Bozinovic of FIU, 7-6 (6), 6-4. Ekaterina Repina downed Paulina Bakaite 5-7,6-2,6-1 for Iowa State's second win against the Panthers.
Regina Espindola picked up the Cyclones' lone win against Wisconsin, defeating Ava Markham, 7-5, 6-3. The victory was Espindola's 57th career singles win, putting her one win shy of the top-10 on the school's career singles win list.
Iowa State will return to action Jan. 26 when they host Augustana and South Dakota in Des Moines. The Cyclones square off with Augustana at 10 a.m. and South Dakota at 4 p.m.
