AMES, Iowa - Iowa State will be sending players to both the H-E-B Invitational and the ITA Women's All-American Championships this weekend.
2019 H-E-B INVITATIONALÂ Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â
The tournament is hosted by Baylor and will be held at Hurd Tennis Center in Waco, Texas. Margarita Timakova, Karen Alvarez, and Oumaima Aziz will be the representatives for the Cyclones.
Other Participating Teams: Baylor, Texas, TCU, Arkansas, Auburn, Kentucky, LSU, Mississippi State, Texas A&M, UTSA and Houston.
Tournament play will start Friday and Saturday at 9 a.m. Sunday's start time is to be determined. Brackets will be released later.
2019 ITA WOMEN'S ALL-AMERICAN CHAMPIONSHIPS
The 2019 Championships will be played in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center and the LaFortune Tennis Center. Maty Cancini and Thasaporn Naklo are the first Cyclones in school history to be selected to play in the ITA All-American Championships and will have the chance to showcase their skills against players from across the country.
Brackets are expected to be released Friday.
PLAYER TO WATCH
Freshman Oumaima Aziz had a promising weekend at the Gopher Invitational. She went 2-1 in singles with her only loss coming in the championship match of her bracket. She also compiled a 4-1 doubles record. Aziz will look to continue her winning ways this weekend in Waco.
CYCLONE TENNIS QUICK HITS
Hot Start - Maty Cancini began her senior campaign with a singles title at the Gopher Invitational, beating Minnesota's Tiffany Huber 6-2, 6-4 in the final.
Dubs Success - At the Gopher Invitational Iowa State showed their strength in doubles play, posting a 12-5 record for the tournament, which included Saturday when they went 6-0.
