TULSA, Okla. – Iowa State's Thasaporn Naklo and Maty Cancini split a pair of matchups Tuesday at the Saint Francis Health System ITA All-American Championships.
Naklo bounced back in the consolation round with an impressive win against No. 57 Emmanuelle Salas of Florida State. Naklo dropped the opening set 6-4, before rallying to win the next to sets by the same score to give the freshman her second win over a ranked foe in the tournament.
Cancini's tournament ended with a hard-fought 6-1, 7-6 loss to Ayumi Miyamoto of Oklahoma State in the second round. Cancini, who is ranked No. 99 in the country, finishes 1-1 at the tournament, which included a win Monday against No. 72 Natalie Novotna of Virginia Tech.
The Cyclones will return to action Oct. 11-13 at the Women of Troy Invitational in Los Angeles, California.
