LA QUINTA, Calif. – The Iowa State men's golf team made an impressive move on the final day of The Prestige this afternoon.
Heading into the last 18 holes, the Cyclones were in 15th place as a team, but rebounded with a final-round 275 (9-under) to move up nine spots on the leaderboard and finish in a tie for sixth at 876.
ISU's 275 ranks as a top-10 low team round in school history.
The Cyclones' round was the lowest of the day by four shots in a field featuring nine teams ranked in the nation's top-50 according to Golfstat.
No. 16 LSU won the team title at 838, six strokes better than No. 1 Oklahoma State (844).
Junior Sam Vincent led the way for the second-straight day, firing a sizzling 65 (6-under) for a career-low round. He was 5-under through his first nine holes before suffering back-to-back bogeys. He then rallied to go 3-under in his last seven holes to finish in a tie for 11th at 214.
Lachlan Barker was one of three Cyclones under par today, carding a 1-under 70 to finish in a tie for 17th at 217.
Tripp Kinney had it going today as well, carding a 5-under 66. He had seven birdies to help him move into a tie for 33rd in the medalist race. Kinney is the team leader in rounds in the 60s with eight.
