MADISON, Wis. – The Iowa State women's golf team defeated Wisconsin, 4-1 to claim the championship of the East & West Match Play.
The Cyclones were the No. 2 seed after finishing second to Wisconsin in the stroke play portion of the tournament.
Iowa State dominated the match vs. the Badgers, closing out all four of its match victories by the 16th hole.
Freshman Liyana Durisic won by the widest margin, defeating Tracy Lee, 6&5.
Durisic finished the front nine up by four holes, and then finished off the match with birdies on holes 11 through 13.
Joy Chou also won in dominating fashion, defeating Emily Lauterbach, 5&3.
Chou won the final three holes of the match to secure her victory on No. 15.
Amelia Grohn started the match on fire by winning the first three holes and that proved to be the deciding factor in a match victory over Eloise Healey, 3&2.
Alanna Campbell won 4&3 over Claire Fitzgerald.
The Cyclones return to action next Monday for the Windy City Collegiate (Sep, 30 - Oct. 1).
