A​MES, Iowa – The Iowa State swimming and diving team (3-4, 0-1 Big 12) hosts UNI (9-3, 1-0 MVC) and North Texas (3-2, 0-1 Sun Belt) on Jan. 31 at 5 p.m. and Feb. 1 at 10 a.m. Student-athletes will be accepting donations for the Soles4Souls new and used shoe drive on Jan. 31.
THE OPPONENT- UNI
Iowa State holds an all-time record of 31-1 with Northern Iowa. The Cyclones have met the in-state rival this season at the Kansas Classic. Iowa State finished in second place with 642 points, while Northern Iowa finished in fifth with 404.5. This season, the Cyclones and Panthers have both lost to Nebraska and Iowa, and have won against Omaha and South Dakota.
THE OPPONENT- North Texas
Iowa State and North Texas also met at the Kansas Classic, where North Texas placed fourth with 439 points. This weekend's meeting is the first in series history.Â
North Texas' victories on the season come from Little Rock, TCU and Incarnate Word, while their losses come from SMU and Rice.  Â
LAST TIME- West Virginia
Iowa State began conference competition meeting West Virginia. The Cyclones dropped the dual 167-133 through four first-place, eight second-place and four third-place finishes. Kami Pankratz improved her 200 fly time on the top-five performers of the season list. Pankratz moved from fifth to fourth with her time of 2:11.40.Â
WHAT TO WATCH FOR- Backstroke
Iowa State won the 200 back and nearly closed in on the 100 back victory against West Virginia thanks to the work of freshman. Elizabeth Richardson captured her second 200 back season victory with her time of 2:04.12. In the 100 back, Sophia Goushchina touched at 56.86, .35 seconds after the top finisher.
ON DECK- Kansas
Iowa State returns to action for the final dual of the season against Kansas. The dual will be split into two days, beginning on Feb. 7 at 6 p.m. and continuing Feb. 8 at 10 a.m. The senior day presentation will take place on Feb 8.Â
