AMES, Iowa – Iowa State track and field/cross country's Cailie Logue and Thomas Pollard have been named to the 2020 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District Men's and Women's Track & Field and Cross Country Team, CoSIDA announced Friday.
Both are first-time honorees and are now eligible for the CoSIDA Academic All-America Team, which will be announced later in June. Logue and Pollard have both received numerous accolades for their accomplishments in the classroom, being multiple-time Academic All-Big 12 and USTFCCCA All-Academic honorees. During the 2019 cross country season, both Logue and Pollard were named their respective Big 12 Scholar-Athletes of the Year.
Logue, Iowa State's Celia Barquin Arozamena Female Athlete of the Year for 2019-20, picked up a pair of All-America honors and three conference titles on the season. In cross country, she defended her Big 12 and NCAA Midwest Region titles and finished the season off by taking 15th at the NCAA Cross Country Championships to earn her first All-America honor. During indoor track season, she claimed the Big 12 titles at 3,000 and 5,000 meters and earned All-America honors at 5K, clocking a personal best 15:50.10 at the Iowa State Classic in February to rank No. 10 in NCAA Division I in 2020. Logue is a kinesiology major.
Pollard had a big return to form in 2019-20 after missing the 2018 track and field season and 2018 cross country campaign. Pollard helped guide the men's cross country team to a third-straight Big 12 crown and fourth at the NCAA Championships, earning All-Big 12 and All-Midwest Region honors in the process. On the track, Pollard ran to silver medals in the 3,000 and 5,000 meters at the Big 12 Championships, helping the ISU men claim their first track and field team title in the Big 12 Era. Pollard clocked personal best times in the mile (4:11.75), 3,000 (8:11.03) and 5,000 (14:01.97) during the 2020 indoor campaign. Pollard earned his Bachelor's degree from ISU in December, and is now pursuing his Master's Degree in Information Systems and Business Analytics.
