Chookaew Inks With The Cyclones

AMES, Iowa – Iowa State head women's golf coach Christie Martens announced today that Pimkwan Chookaew, one of the top junior golfers in Thailand, has signed a letter of intent to play golf at Iowa State beginning in the 2022-23 school year.
Chookaew, who hails from Nonthaburi, Thailand, has a sterling record internationally, rising as high as No. 727 in the World Amateur Golf Rankings (WAGR). She's been a member of the Junior National Team for multiple seasons and has registered 20 Top 10 finishes and three victories in her career.
In 2018, Chookaew placed seventh at the IMG Junior World Championship and more recently was the medalist at the 2020 APJGA Thailand with rounds of 69-68. She was also the low amateur at the Maungthai Insurance Thai LPGA Master (68-67-70).
"Pimkwan will make an immediate impact on our program," Martens said. "She has won on the international level and has a great desire to continue to improve. I know she will make everyone around her better and we can't wait to have her on campus."
