COLUMBIA, Mo. – The Iowa State divers continue competition at the Mizzou Invite after wrapping up action on both springboards. Michelle Schlossmacher Smith packed a punch in a pair of strong performances, advancing to finals on both the three- and one-meter.
Schlossmacher Smith tallied her fourth three-meter Zone cut in finals Wednesday night as she placed seventh with 280.75. The senior's third dive of a back 2.5 somersault tuck scored the highest out of her six with 54.60.
Schlossmacher Smith solidified her second appearance in finals after notching 242.95 in one-meter prelims Thursday. Sophomore Joscelyn Buss scored 218.35 for 17th, freshman Lauren Kimball dove to 211.40 for 20th and senior Jessica Coffin recorded 154.45 for 33rd.
Schlossmacher Smith dove to 237.70 in one-meter finals to improve her prelims placement to seventh.
The Mizzou Invite began Wednesday with three-meter diving. Prelims saw senior Schlossmacher Smith make the cut for finals and she dove to fifth with 267.75. Buss placed next for the Cyclones at 16th with a score of 232.45. Kimball (216.40, 20th) and Coffin (177.05, 30th) rounded out the Iowa State divers.
Diving at the Mizzou Invite concludes tomorrow on platform. Meanwhile, swimmers start up the Kansas Classic tomorrow with prelims at 10 a.m. and finals at 6 p.m.
