IRVING, Texas – The Big 12 named Martha Haas the 2021 Big 12 Women's Swimming and Diving co-Scholar-Athlete of the Year Wednesday. Haas is the third-consecutive Cyclone to earn the award.
The native of Minnetonka, Minnesota recently picked up her third Academic All-Big 12 First Team honor and the Dr. Gerald Lage Award, the conference's highest academic honor. Haas put up a 4.0 GPA last semester and holds a cumulative GPA of 3.92. She will earn her degree in public relations.
In the pool, Haas became a four-time All-Big 12 honoree in the 100 breast, the only Cyclone to do so in the event and second swimmer through all events. The senior also is a two-time All-Big 12 honoree in the 200 breast. Haas' name etches the record books as she is ranked sixth all-time in the 100 breast, ninth in the 200 breast and has been a proven contributor to eight all-time relay teams.
"I'm very happy for Martha, this is such a nice honor and award for her," head coach Duane Sorenson said. "Her teammates and our staff know what a dedicated athlete she is, this award shows everyone how committed she is to be a high achieving student."
