AMES, Iowa – The Iowa State swimming and diving team announced the addition of swimmer Winter Craig. Craig will join the team in the fall as a sophomore after transferring from Tulane University.
Craig originates from Lakeville, Minn. where she swam for Lakeville South High School. Under Coach Mike Parratto, Craig swam for the Riptide club team, the same pipeline to produce current Iowa State swimmers Lucia Rizzo, Emily Heymans and Keely Tierney.
While in high school, Craig competed at the state level and at the Speedo Champions Series. The swimmer notably became a champion in the 200 fly at the Minnesota Swimming Senior Long Course Championships while being named a class of 2020 top-10 recruit from the state of Minnesota.
At Tulane University, Craig recently competed at the AAC Championships where she became a finalist in the 100 fly to claim a collegiate-best of 56.42. In dual competition, she notched eight top-five finishes through six duals.
Craig excels in the 200 fly, 100 fly and the 50 free. Craig set PRs of 2:00.32 (200 fly), 55.49 (100 fly) and 23.98 (50 free) throughout multiple Speedo Champions Series.
"Head Coach Sorenson and I are extremely excited about Winter joining the team," Assistant Head Coach Kelly Nordell said. "Winter is a fierce competitor and will have an immediate impact in the 100 and 200 butterfly events."
