AMES, Iowa – The streak continues.
After last year's season was cancelled, the Iowa State women's golf team, and the entire nation, lost their chance for the postseason.
This year, the Cyclones are back, earning their 11th-straight trip to an NCAA Regional. The Cyclones were selected to play in the NCAA Stanford Regional, May 10-12 in Stanford, Calif., as the No. 9 seed.
The NCAA Stanford Regional will be held at the Stanford Golf Course with the University of Stanford as the host. The top six teams in the four regionals will advance to the NCAA Championships, May 21-26 at TPC Scottsdale in Scottsdale, Ariz. The three individuals in each regional not among the teams advancing will also punch a ticket to Scottsdale.
This marks the 15th time and the 11th year in a row (1993-96, 2010-21) Iowa State has qualified for an NCAA Regional. In 2014, the Cyclones advanced to the NCAA Championships for the first and only time in school history, qualifying out of the NCAA West Regional held at Tumble Creek in Cle Elum, Wash.
The leader of the Cyclone squad is freshman Liyana Durisic. Durisic, who missed the fall season, has been a model of consistency since her return in the spring, finishing in the top-20 in five of seven events while leading the team in stroke average at 73.19.
A native Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Durisic is currently rated No. 121 in the latest Golfweek rankings.
Rounding out Iowa State's top-five are Amelia Grohn, Taglao Jeeravivitaporn, Joy Chou and Charley Jacobs. All four are maintaining a stroke average below 75.00.
A native of Coffs Harbour, Australia, Grohn has been a staple in the Cyclone lineup for five seasons, breaking the school record for career rounds played with 138. Grohn is averaging 74.36 strokes per round and her career 74.83 stroke average ranks fifth in school history.
Iowa State enters the postseason ranked No. 41 nationally by Golfweek.
