Cyclone Tennis Opens Fall Season

AMES, Iowa - The Iowa State tennis team kicks off its 2021-22 season this weekend at a pair of competitive events, the Gopher Invitational and the Kitty Harrison Invitational.

Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center - Chapel Hill, North Carolina

Daily Schedule: Doubles action begins Friday at 9 a.m. (CT) and Saturday and Sunday at 10 a.m. (CT), with singles following each day. On Friday, players will play one doubles match and two singles matches. Saturday will feature two doubles matches and one singles match. On Sunday, players will play one doubles and one singles match.

Cyclones Participating: Sofia Cabezas, Christin Hsieh, Miska Kadleckova and Thasaporn Naklo.
Teams Participating: North Carolina, Virginia, William & Mary, Auburn, Duke, Northwestern, Old Dominion, Wake Forest, Kansas, Princeton, LSU, Charlotte, Florida.

In The Rankings
Iowa State opens the 2021-22 with a pair of nationally ranked players: Naklo and Kadleckova.

Naklo is ranked No. 38, the highest individual ranking in school history. Kadleckova enters her second season ranked No. 91. The pair, which finished 11-6 playing together last season, is the nation's No. 59 doubles team.

PLAYER TO WATCH
Kadleckova comes into the 2021-22 season after putting up one of the most impressive freshman campaigns in school history. She posted a 13-7 record in doubles play and led the team in singles wins, going 16-3. Her performance earned her a spot on the Big 12 All-Freshman Team and the All-Big 12 Second Team.

CYCLONE TENNIS QUICK HIT
Chie Chasing W's - Kezuka is one win shy of her 40th overall career win. Kezuka went 11-7 in dual play last spring, clinching a team-high five matches for the Cyclones.
