AMES, Iowa – Iowa State's Thasaporn Naklo continued to roll at the Kitty Harrison Invitational as the Cyclones completed play on day two at a pair of tournaments.
Kitty Harrison Invitational
The 38th-ranked Naklo continued her dominant play with a 6-3, 6-2 win over No. 90 Clarissa Hand of Northwestern. The win was the seventh ranked victory of Naklo's career. She advances to the finals to face No. 78 Anika Yarlagadda of North Carolina on Sunday.
As a team, Iowa State finished Saturday 4-0 in singles action at the tournament.
No. 91 Miska Kadleckova bounced back with a 6-1, 6-1 victory over LSU's Mia Rabinowicz. Sofia Cabezas also downed an LSU opponent, earning a 7-5, 6-1 win against Maggie Cubitt, and Christin Hsieh won 6-4, 6-4 against Old Dominion's Alexandra Viktorovich.
The Cyclones finished 3-1 in doubles action as well. Hsieh and Naklo dropped a hard-fought 6-4 decision to the nation's No. 15 team of Alle Sanford and Reilly Tran from North Carolina. The pair rebounded to defeat Mila Saric and Raffaela Alhach of William & Mary, 6-3.
Cabezas and Kadleckova paired up to down foes from Princeton and Old Dominion.
Gopher Invitational
Chie Kezuka notched a straight-set, 6-1, 6-1, victory over North Dakota's Sapir Sela and followed that up with a 6-1, 6-0 win against Gonzaga's Caroline Wernli to move to 2-1 this weekend.
In doubles action, Kezuka combined with Minnesota's Anfisa Danilchenko to finish the day 1-1.
