AMES, Iowa – Iowa State head women's golf coach Christie Martens announced today that Keeley Marx and Amie Phobubpa have signed their letters of intent and will join the Cyclonitas squad beginning in the 2023-24 school year.
"We are thrilled with the addition of Keeley and Amie to our team in 2023," said Martens. "They are one of our strongest classes ever, with success both in Australia and abroad. They will have an immediate impact on our program, as we graduate some amazing seniors this year. They will have lasting impact both on and off the golf course."
Marx, a top-junior golfer out of Melbourne, Australia, has an impressive international resume, ranking has high as No. 141 in the World Amateur Golf Rankings (WAGR). She is an IMG Academy Junior World Champion and has eight Top-10 finishes out of 14 counting events.
"Keeley won the IMG Junior World in San Diego this summer, beating many of the world's best junior and amateur players," shared Martens. "She was crowned Victoria's player of the year as well. Most of all, Keeley has shown outstanding character, she led 'Challenge' Supporting kids with cancer and has been a leading spokesperson for the organization."
Phobubpa has made a name for herself with 10 Top-10 finishes in 29 counting events and a Western Australian Amateur Championship title under her belt. The Australian native joins Marx as a top-junior golfer with a ranking as high as No. 979 according to WAGR.
"Amie has led the Western Australia many times on the biggest stages," Martens stated. "She is a leader in her state and across Australia. Time and time again we have heard about her energy and leadership and what a great ambassador she is."
With seven top-five finishes since the beginning of 2021, Phobubpa will add to that success while wearing the cardinal and gold.
