COLUMBIA, Mo. – The Iowa State divers kick off their first championship-style meet at the Mizzou Invite, wrapping up action on the 3-meter springboards on Wednesday. Junior Joscelyn Buss and senior Jayna Misra both advanced to the finals following their prelims.
Buss nearly hit a 3-meter Zone Championships cut in finals as she placed sixth with a score of 272.80. Misra placed right below Buss in the finals in seventh with her score of 267.95.
Prelims saw Buss take the highest placement for the Cyclones in fifth place with a score of 285.20, making it her second 'B' Zone cut of the year, and best score this season. Shortly behind was Misra in seventh place with a score of 275.80. The freshmen divers made their mark in the prelims as Kate Mitchell placed in 11th (237.15) and Ally Blumenfeld in 13th place (222.95).
Diving at the Mizzou Invite continues tomorrow on the 1-meter springboard. The divers will finish out on the platforms for the first time this season on Friday. Meanwhile, swimmers start up the Kansas Classic on Friday with prelims at 10 a.m. and finals at 6 p.m.
