AMES, Iowa – Iowa State swept the Big 12 Conference weekly awards as Brinley Horras, Gabrielle LePine, and Joscelyn Buss each landed an honor for their outings against South Dakota. This is the Cyclones' first three Big 12 awards of the season.
Horras secured her first Big 12 Women's Swimmer of the Week award of her career. The junior claimed two event wins in the dual against South Dakota in the 1000 free and 500 free with times of 10:22.67 and 5:02.95, respectively. The Ames, Iowa native also assisted her 400 free relay team to victory while touching the wall at 3:28.15. Horras has earned three event wins this season.
LePine, a freshman from Greenfield, Wisconsin tailed the Big 12 Women's Newcomer of the Week, marking her first honor and award. The dominant breaststroker swam the 100 breast with a time of 1:04.54 against South Dakota to add her fourth collegiate win to her record. She led her 200 medley relay team to first place, locking down a time of 1:45.03. LePine has already posted a 1:03.71 100-yard breaststroke win in her first dual at Nebraska last month, putting her at No. 17 all-time in ISU history.
Buss is honored with the Big 12 Women's Diver of the Week after winning the 3-meter event against the Coyotes with a score of 283.55, earning her first season victory. The diver from Ames locked up her second NCAA Zone Diving Championships marks at the dual against South Dakota State. The junior placed second against the Jackrabbits in the 3-meter with a score of 285.15, which is her highest score of the event this season.
Next up the divers head to Columbia, Mo. for the Mizzou Invite Nov. 16-18 and the swimmers take on the Kansas Classic in Topeka, Kan. Nov. 18-20 for the first championship-style meets of the season.
