STANFORD, Calif. – The Iowa State women's golf team is sixth after the second round of the NCAA Stanford Regional. After a 294-team score in round two, the Cyclones will have to make up five shots in the final round to advance as a team to the NCAA Championship.
The University of Southern California leads the tournament at 12-under par.
Taglao Jeeravivitaporn led the Cyclones during Tuesday's round, posting her second 71 of the tournament. Jeeravivitaporn sits inside the top-10 in the medalist race at even par.
During the first round, Ruby Chou broke the Iowa State record for the lowest score in an NCAA Regional with a three-under 68. Chou carded a two-over 73 during her second round and holds on to a tie for eighth place.
Third on the team is Liyana Durisic, who has now carded back-to-back rounds of 74. Durisic is in a tie for 34th place and sits at six-over par for the tournament.
Warda Amira Rawof is tied for 40th place, and Charley Jacobs finished her second round in 61st place.
The Cyclones will start their final round charge on Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. CT. The top four teams will advance to the NCAA Championship, along with the top two individuals not on those top four teams. Â
