UNIVERSITY PLACE, Wash. – Iowa State senior All-American Taglao Jeeravivitaporn finished in the top 10 after two rounds of stroke play, as she advanced to the match play portion of the U.S. Women's Amateur. Jeeravivitaporn finished in a tie for seventh, as the top 64 in the standings advanced to match play on Wednesday.
Jeeravivitaporn shot a 70 for the second-straight day. She was one of just four golfers in the field to have both rounds be 70 or under. Starting on the back nine, she was two-under par on the back nine with birdies on the 11th and 17th holes. On the front nine, she was one-under par, with birdies on first and fourth holes.
The field started with 156 competitors at the 122nd U.S. Women's Amateur. The 64 players in match play are seeded, with Jeeravivitaporn being the seven seed, facing No. 58 Anna Fang in the first round of match play.
Jeeravivitaporn and Fang will tee off at 2:20 (CT) on Wednesday. The round of 64 will air on the Golf Channel from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday. With a victory, Jeeravivitaporn would advance to the round of 32, which will be held on Aug. 11. The round of 16 will also be on Aug. 11, while the quarterfinals are scheduled for Aug. 12 and the semifinals on Aug. 13. The championship match, over 36 holes, will be on Aug. 14.
Under Iowa State Head Coach Christie Martens, Jeeravivitaporn is the sixth different Cyclone to play in the U.S. Women's Amateur. Jeeravivitaporn is the first Cyclone since Christi Athas in 2005 to make match play.
