AMES, IOWA -Â Iowa State Soccer will make its season debut Saturday morning, as the Cyclones are set to host the Northern Iowa Panthers in an exhibition match.
The match will be played on the practice field behind the softball field at CSC and kickoff is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. The teams will play three 30 minute periods and guests will have the option to watch the match in a standing room only section of the field.
WHO'S BACK
The Cyclones return 15 from last year's squad, highlighted by Jordan Silkowitz, Mira Emma, Lauren McConnell and Claudia Najera.
Emma is coming off a season where she led the team in games started, goals, assists and points. She also tallied over 1,400 minutes a season ago.
Silkowitz brings back experience between the posts for the Cyclones. She has played in 25 matches during her ISU career and brings a .801 save percentage with her into the season.
WHO'S NEW
Iowa State welcomes a signing class of 13. The Cyclones added eight true freshmen and five transfers that look to make an immediate impact this season.
SCOUTING UNI
The Panthers consist of 21 returners, seven new freshmen and one transfer. Northern Iowa returns 2021 All-MVC performers Ashley Harrington, Lauren Heinsch and Siri Ott.
Last season, Northern Iowa finished the season with a 6-10-2 record and lost to Drake 3-2 in the first round of the MVC Tournament.
UP NEXT
The Cyclones will head to Minneapolis to face Minnesota in their final exhibition match on Friday, Aug. 12 with kickoff scheduled for 6 p.m.
Iowa State opens the regular season Thursday, Aug. 18 at 9 p.m. with a non-conference matchup against Arizona in Tucson.
