AMES, Iowa – Iowa State held its final wrestle-offs Thursday evening inside the Lied Recreational Center. Results from the evening are listed below.
At 125 pounds, Kysen Terukina used a takedown with less than 10 seconds remaining to ice his 8-2 victory over Ethan Perryman.
Evan Frost and Garrett Grice wrestled a tight one at 133 pounds. Grice earned the first takedown of the match, but wouldn't score again as Frost prevailed, 9-3.
Jacob Frost defeated Zach Redding, 10-5, at 141 pounds thanks to a pair of takedowns and two near fall points.
At 149 pounds, Anthony Echemendia held off a late Casey Swiderski shot attempt to win, 4-3.
Jason Kraisser looked comfortable in a 15-0 tech fall against Christian Stanek at 157 pounds.
David Carr secured five takedowns in a 17-3 major decision against Connor Euton at 165 pounds.
At 174 pounds, redshirt freshman MJ Gaitan was solid in a 20-6 major decision over Carter Schmidt.
Freshman Tate Naaktgeboren earned a pair of takedowns against Caleb Helgeson to win, 7-7, at 184 pounds.
An escape and a riding time point were all Julien Broderson needed to get past Nando Villaescusa, 2-0, at 197 pounds
In the final match of the night, Yonger Bastida used a chicken wing to pin Xavier Bruening in 43 seconds.
Iowa State opens its season Sunday, Nov. 5 against Cleveland State inside Perry High School in Massillon, Ohio – David Carr's high school gymnasium.
