ISU enters its seventh season under head coach Kevin Dresser and expectations are high with a veteran core mixed with exciting young talent. The Cyclones have steadily improved under Dresser, and last year, finished 11th at the NCAA Championships, the Cyclones' best finish since 2013. ISU scored its highest point total in the tournament since 2010.

David Carr opens his final season at Iowa State inside his high school gymnasium at Perry High School. Carr won four state titles at Perry and posted a 188-6 high school record.
Several Cyclones hit the weight room and transformed their bodies over the offseason, but none more noticeable than Yonger Bastida and Julien Broderson. Bastida, moving from 197 pounds to heavyweight, added 43 pounds to his frame while lowering his body fat percentage. Broderson, moving up two weight classes this season to 197 pounds, added 51 pounds while maintaining the same body composition.
Identical twins Evan and Jacob Frost turned heads at ISU's wrestle-offs last week. If both wrestle Sunday, they would be the first set of brothers to appear in ISU's lineup since Michael and Gabe Moreno in 2015.
There are four redshirt freshmen in Iowa State's projected lineup, two of which will make their Cyclone dual lineup debut. MJ Gaitan (174) and Jacob Frost (141) each had spot starts for ISU last season thanks to the NCAA's freshmen redshirt rule, but Caleb Helgeson (184) and Evan Frost (133) could see their first dual action.
Dresser and the coaching staff made some key additions during the offseason who could have an immediate impact. Freshman Cody Chittum joined the roster after spending a grey shirt year in Iowa City. Garrett Grice (Virginia) and Will Feldkamp (Clarion) joined via the transfer portal.
Three wrestlers on ISU's roster have earned All-America honors at some point in their careers (David Carr, Will Feldkamp, Yonger Bastida).
