Seven Cyclones Advance to CKLV Quarterfinals

LAS VEGAS -Â Seven Cyclones advanced into the quarterfinals Friday afternoon during Session I of the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational. Evan Frost, Anthony Echemendia, Casey Swiderski, David Carr, MJ Gaitan, Will Feldkamp and Yonger Bastida all had 2-0 starts to the tournament.
ISU's seven quarterfinalists are the most of any team in the tournament. The Cyclones sit in third place in the team race with 41 points, trailing only Ohio State (46.5) and Nebraska (45).
Iowa State went 10-for-10 in the opening round with four wrestlers tallying bonus points. Kysen Terukina won by fall while Carr, Julien Broderson and Bastida each notched tech falls in their first matches.
Cody Chittum and Broderson lost their Round of 16 matches, but advanced on the back side into Session II. Kysen Terukina is the lone Cyclone eliminated from the tournament after a 1-2 session.
Nine Cyclones will wrestle in Session II beginning at 8 p.m. (CT).
