No. 6 Iowa State beats Old Dominion

NORFOLK, Va. – No. 6 Iowa State (9-2) earned a road win over Old Dominion (4-2), 4-1, Saturday afternoon.

After a historic run at the ITA National Indoor Championships last weekend, the Cyclones kept their momentum going with their sixth win of the season against an opponent that qualified for last year's NCAA Championships.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Senior Thasaporn Naklo and sophomore Anna Supapitch Kuearum were the first to finish at the No. 1 doubles spot. The pair got off to a slow start, falling behind 3-0 to No. 24 Tatsiana Sasnouskaya and Sofia Johnson. However, they quickly found their rhythm and came back to win, 6-3. Naklo and Supapitch Kuearum improve to 13-1 on the year together.

Clinching the doubles point for the Cyclones was Miska Kadleckova and Sofia Cabezas. The pair led the match from start to finish and defeated Alesya Yakubovich and Sharar Biran, 6-3.

Ange Oby Kajuru and Xinyi Nong were up against Alexandra Viktorovich and Allison Isaacs, 5-3, at the time Iowa State earned the doubles point.

Kadleckova finished her singles match in no time at the No. 4 spot. She quickly took care of Yakubovich, 6-0, 6-0, for her 13^th straight singles win and second consecutive shutout.

Old Dominion got on the board in the team score as No. 25 Sasnouskaya came out on top against Naklo, 6-0, 6-1, cutting into Iowa State's lead, 2-1.

Cabezas would get a point back for the Cyclones, defeating Viktorovich,6-3, 6-2, for her 16^th singles win on the year.

Clinching the match for the Cyclones was Kajuru. The Tokyo, Japan native came out on top against Johnson, 7-5, 6-4, for.

The Cyclones will back in action Friday as they travel to Iowa City to take on the Hawkeyes.
