Iowa State Places Sixth At The Big 12 Women's Match Play

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – The Iowa State women's golf team places sixth at the Big 12 Women's Match Play after falling to No. 8 Oklahoma in the final round of the consolation bracket. The Cyclones finished with an overall tournament record of 4-4-0.
Pammy Chookaew led the Cyclones with an impressive 7-1-0 record. The freshman concluded Pool Play with a 5-1-0 record and grabbed another win over Texas Tech's Lauren Zaretsky in the consolation bracket semifinal round. After the team advanced to play Oklahoma in the final round, Chookaew gave the Cyclones a point after knocking off Mikhaela Fortuna 3&2.
Liyana Durisic got off to a slow start after dropping her first four matches. Durisic turned it around with four straight wins starting with the last round of Pool Play. During the Texas Tech match, Durisic defeated Linyu Dong 3&2 and went on to win her final match over Oklahoma's Reagan Chaney 4&2.
Karisa Chul-Ak-Sorn had yet another solid week. The freshman concluded the Pool Play portion with a 4-2-0 record. Chul-Ak-Sorn tied her match against Texas Tech's Gala Dumez and was defeated in her final match against Emily Hun of Oklahoma.
Taglao Jeeravivitaporn concluded her Pool Play matches with a 2-3-1 record. The senior dropped both matches to Texas Tech's Shannon Tan and Kaylee Vesely of Oklahoma to finish with an overall record of 2-5-1.
Ruby Chou finished with a 1-5-0 Pool Play record and won her match against Chiara Horder of Texas Tech. Chou fell to Savannah Barber of Oklahoma in a match that was decided on the 18th hole.
The Big 12 Women's Championship in Dallas, Tex. is next up for the Cyclones schedule. The championship begins on Friday, Apr. 21 and the final round will conclude on Sunday, Apr. 23.
