AMES, Iowa. – The Iowa State tennis team opens its spring season as they travel to Palm Springs, California to compete in the Duel in the Desert.
Duel in the Desert
Matches for the tournament will begin on Thursday, Jan. 11, and run through Saturday, Jan. 13, at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden in Palm Springs.
The tournament will feature matches against Clemson, Arkansas and Kansas in a hidden dual format. The matches will start at 2 p.m. CT. Iowa State will take on Arkansas on Thursday, Kansas on Friday, and Clemson on Saturday, though the results will not count as dual contests. Individual results do count.

Iowa State has one doubles pair in the rankings, with Isabella Dunlap and Anna Supapitch Kuearum ranked No. 56 in the ITA National Doubles Rankings.
Cyclone Tennis Quick Hits
What's New? - This tournament will mark the debuts for several new Iowa State women's tennis team members, including Gala Arangio, Ashlee Narker and Valeska San Martin Ramirez, who all joined the Cyclones in January.
Familiar Faces - Saturday's match against Clemson will mark the first time the Cyclones will match up against former head coach Boomer Saia. Saia departed from Iowa State to become the head coach of the Clemson Tigers, leaving as a two-time Big 12 Head Coach of the Year and with a record of 66-38, making him the third-winningest coach in program history.
