AMES, Iowa – The Iowa State women's tennis team is away from home for the first time this season as they travel to Iowa City for a neutral site match with the No. 52 Oregon Ducks.
The Schedule
Sunday, Feb. 25 – 10 a.m. CT
Iowa State (2-4) vs. No. 52 Oregon (6-3)
Hawkeye Tennis and Recreation Complex – Iowa City, Iowa
The Series
Iowa State and Oregon have only met once in both program's history. The last meeting was in January of 2011, where the Ducks took the meeting 5-2. Iowa State is looking to even the series with a win on Sunday.
Last Time Out
Iowa State's last match was against Iowa in the Iowa Corn Cy-Hawk series. Anna Supapitch Kuearum grabbed the Cyclones' first ranked win of the dual season as she beat No. 85 Daianne Hayashida, 6-3, 6-1. However, it wasn't enough to power the shorthanded Cyclones to win, as they dropped the match, 5-2. To read more about last week, click here.
Player to Watch
Anna Supapitch Kuearum is coming off her biggest win of the season going into the matchup with the Ducks. After her win against No. 85 Hayashida, she improved to 3-3 at the No.1 singles spot during the dual season and 11-9 on the year.
In doubles, Kuearum and her partner Isabella Dunlap are holding down the No.1 doubles spot for the Cyclones, going an impressive 4-1 over the first six duals of the season. The duo will look to lead from the front as the Cyclones go up against the Ducks.
Cyclone Tennis Quick Hit
In neutral-site matches last year, Iowa State was an impressive 7-3, with wins over No.10 Miami, No.9 Vanderbilt and No.1 Texas. The Cyclones will look to continue that form in their first neutral site match of the spring dual season.
