AMES, Iowa - Four Iowa State swimmers were honored with College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District recognition on Tuesday as announced by the organization. Carley Caughron, Winter Craig, Fallon DeWitt and Mallory Miller each earned their first CSC Academic honors.
The award recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in the pool and in the classroom. Student-athletes must have a 3.5 cumulative GPA and the proper athletic accomplishments to make the ballot.
Caughron swam the 50 free and 100 fly at every meet this season for Iowa State while also competing in the 100 free at six meets this season. Through ISU's first three meets, she claimed five wins across the three events. She finished in the top 20 at the Big 12 Championships for both the 50 free and 100 free.Â
Craig swam in all 10 meets for Iowa State, specializing in the 100 fly, 200 fly and 500 free. She competed in the 200 fly in every meet but the Cyclones' first against South Dakota State, claiming five titles in the event across the season and finishing in the top 15 at the Big 12 Championships. She finished with a career-best time in the 100 fly in finals at the Hawkeye Invite in 55.09 seconds.Â
DeWitt competed in all 10 meets for the Cyclones with five different events including the 100 back, 200 back, 200 free, 200 IM and 400 IM. She swam season bests at the Big 12 Championships in both the 200 back and 200 free.Â
Miller moved to sixth on the Iowa State all-time top performer's list in the 400 IM, finishing second at Iowa with a time of 4:21.09. She also climbed to sixth in the 1000 free with her performance at the Big 12 Championships. The Eden Prairie, Minnesota native moved to 10th in the 200 IM at the Hawkeye Invite as well.
