AMES, Iowa - The Iowa State swimming and diving team, returning to competition after a one-month layoff, took top honors in 12 of the first 13 events Friday in a 175-115 victory over St. Olaf in Beyer Pool.
Sophomore Chelsey Walden placed first in the 1000 freestyle (10:41.34) and 200 backstroke (2:14.01).
Sophomore Cassandra Nelson placed first in the 100 backstroke (1:02.03) and was the lead-off leg for the victorious 200 medley relay (1:50.33).
Tami Ritchie touched the wall first in both the 200 freestyle (1:56.81) and the 100 butterfly (1:00.33). The junior was also the lead-off leg of the 200 freestyle relay (1:43.28).
Junior Lydia Smirniotis placed first in the 500 freestyle (5:11.33) and 200 butterfly (2:12.39).
In diving, Katie Herman took first place in both the 1-meter (266.85) and 3-meter (272.33) springboards.
The Cyclones play host to Nebraska-Omaha on Jan. 15, at 1 p.m. in Beyer Pool.
