Lisa Koll and Jenny Mockler have been uncontested leaders for the distance team this year. In her rookie season as a track athlete, Koll has shattered records, earned academic accolades and most recently a Big 12 crown. On Friday the freshman will compete in the 5,000-meter run against the nation's best, Sally Kipyego from Texas Tech. Koll is ranked fifth in the region. Mockler has been consistently reliable for the Cyclone squad in her final season with the team. The senior is scheduled to compete in the 800-meter run at 5:30 p.m. Mockler earned fourth-place in the event at the Big 12 Conference outdoor meet with a time of 2:10.39.
In front of a hometown crowd, 400-meter hurdler Sara Boisen will aim to qualify for her second consecutive national collegiate championship. The senior will have her hands full competing in a field packed with talent. This will be Boisen's third consecutive appearance in the NCAA regional meet. Boisen will need to beat her career best time of 59.20 seconds to advance to the NCAA Championship.
Jumper Priya Hoze is arguably the most improved Cyclone this season. Hoze qualified to compete in both the long and triple jump at this weekends meet. The senior earned fifth-place in the long jump and ninth in the triple jump at the Big 12 meet. Hoze will be joined in the triple jump by teammate Agata Kosuda who finished fifth at the Big 12 outdoor meet with a leap of 43-3.
