“I was real proud of all of our breaststrokers,” said Sorenson. “From Marni winning it to Jeli finishing just .01 seconds off of second, Lindsey Frodyma got a career-best time in the ?B' final, and Krista Moyer won the bonus heat. They have all been working hard and listening and doing what we have asked of them.”
Junior Lindsey Behrens competed in a pair of finals on Sunday. Behrens took sixth in the 100 freestyle (52.68) and finished seventh in the 200-yard butterfly (2:07.93).
“Lindsey is a tough, tough swimmer,” said Sorenson. “She came out in the 100 free right on her season-best and then got a season-best in the 200 butterfly. She is one of our toughest athletes and we are really proud of what she did this weekend.”
Junior Frances Calzada got a fourth place finish in the 100 freestyle (52.46). Sophomore Jenny Vondenkamp finished eighth in the 200 backstroke (2:08.95).
In diving, Tran recorded a second-place finish in platform diving. Tran finished with a score of 235.50.
“It was right around her personal best, it was a great thing to see this early in the season,” said Warrick. “I know she can do better, she was just a little off on her entries and when we get that fixed, she can be right around the first-place finishers.”
Senior Kali Fryklund finished third with a score of 211.60 and Warrick was happy to see her have a strong performance after a rough first two diving events.
“It was a great way for her to end the weekend,” said Warrick. “She really stepped up and did a great job, she hit all of her dives. She was within four points of her personal best so to do that this early in the season is fantastic.”
Sophomores Abby Christensen and Justine Anders finished fifth (186.25) and seventh (155.30) respectively. Freshmen Sarah Nelson finished tenth (130.65), Lauren Naeve 11th (127.50), and Jenn Botsch 12th (101.50).
The Cyclones return to action Saturday, Dec. 6th when they take on the Northern Iowa Panthers at Beyer Pool.
