Cyclones Fourth At Lady Northern Invitational

GLENCOE, Ill.- Iowa State's Laurence Herman and Punpaka Phuntumabamrung tied for seventh place to help the Cyclone women's golf team place fourth in the 12-team Lady Northern Invitational field Tuesday afternoon. The Cyclones tied for the second-lowest round of the day this afternoon at 289 for a three-round 887 tally, ranking as one of the top-10 lowest 54-hole rounds in school history.
Defending national champion Purdue won the team title with an 858.
Herman, who has placed in the top-10 in her last three tournaments, recorded her 10th top-10 finish of her career at 217. Herman was 4-under par in her last 36 holes, finishing the tournament with rounds of 69 and 71. In her last three tournaments, Herman has a 73.1 stroke average.
Phuntumabamrung recorded her third top-10 performance of the season with rounds of 75-71-71=217. Both of Herman's and Phuntumabamrung's 54-hole scores tie for 10th on the school's record chart.
Kristin Paulson finished 10th (72-74-72=218) en route to her first career top-10 performance. Paulson was competing as an individual and her scores did not count toward Iowa State's team total.
Northwestern's Lauren Weaver won the medalist race at 208.
Iowa State closes out its fall schedule, Nov. 1-2 at the Challenge at Onion Creek.
