ANN ARBOR, Mich. - The Iowa State women's golf team posted a great start out of the gates by finishing second at the 17-team Wolverine Invitational field Sunday afternoon. The Cyclones carded a Sunday-best 297 to finish the three-round tournament at 907. Florida International won the tournament with an 896, eleven strokes ahead of the Cyclones.
Punpaka Phuntumabamrung led the Cyclones by placing sixth with a 226 tally. The sophomore fired the best round of the day this afternoon with a 1-over par 72, helping her notch her second career top-10 finish. Kristin Paulson placed 17th with a 229. Victoria Stefansen and Katelynn Hogenson both carded a 230, tying for 18th place.
Paula Hurtado of Florida International won the medalist race with a 222.
Iowa State is back in action, Sept. 25-26 at the Fossum Invitational in East Lansing, Mich.
