ResultsAMES, Iowa - The Iowa State Cyclones fell at home to the University of Nebraska on Saturday 174-126 bringing the Cyclones' team standings to 5-4 for the season and 0-2 in the conference.
The Cyclones' first win of the day came from sophomore
Dani Harris in the 100 backstroke, touching the wall with a time of 56.99. Harris also contributed two more wins for the team, first in the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:03.52, then again in the 200 IM with a time of 2:08.47.

Duane Sorenson said. “She paced her 100 and 200 back very well. All of the work she's been doing in practice has come out very nice.”
Iowa State dominated in the breaststroke events throughout the entire meet, including taking the top three places in the 100 breaststroke. Finishing first was
Jeli Nixt, with a time of 1:05.9. Following close were
Emily Wiltsie and
Lindsey Frodyma with times of 1:06.16 and 1:06.63, respectively. In the 200 breaststroke, Wiltsie touched the wall first with a time of 2:22.25.
“We swam very well; we were very pleased with our backstroke and breaststroke,” Sorenson said. “We swam the first part of the meet as planned. We were hoping to get a few more points in the second half of the meet but came up short.”
The Cyclones finished strong against Nebraska winning the final event of the day, the 400 freestyle relay, with a time of 3:35.64
Senior
Justine Anders stood out for the Cyclones in the diving well, scoring a career-best 264.52 on the 3-meter springboard, placing fifth.
“Justine is really pulling everything together,” diving coach
Jeff Warrick stated. “It's been a long road these last four weeks. She's been doing outstanding and diving at higher levels very consistently.”
On the 1-meter,
Sarah Nelson took third with 253.95. Taking fourth was Jessica Nicholson with a score of 252.38 and following Nicholson was
Abby Christensen with a final score of 246.07.
Next for the Cyclones, divers
Sarah Nelson and Jessica Nicholson will head to Iowa City to compete Sunday and Monday in the USA Diving Winter National Championships.
The Cyclones will travel as a team to Lawrence, Kansas to compete in their next dual meet Feb. 4-5 against the University of Kansas.
