AMES, Iowa – The Iowa State swimming and diving team followed up a pair of dual meet wins on Nov. 6 with most outstanding performances in a Pentathlon against TCU and South Dakota.
Sophomore Kasey Roberts took first place overall in the Pentathlon with a time of 2:49.20, nearly six seconds faster than TCU's Devin Newton, who took second overall.
Iowa State's Savanna Townsend took third place with a mark of 2:54.90, 0.01 seconds from tying Newton.
The Cyclones claimed first place in the 50 breaststroke, 50 freestyle and 50 IM on the morning and went on to comprise six of the Pentathlon's top-10 finishers.
Divers competed in exhibitions throughout the morning, partaking in synchronized diving and a shoot-out, both on the three-meter board.
Iowa State's Elyse Brouillette and Julie Dickinson took second place in the women's division of synchronized diving with a score of 189.00. In the elimination-style shoot-out competition, Brouillette took second place out of all men's and women's divers and Dickinson finished third.
The Cyclones are back in action Nov. 20-22 at the Big Challenge, which will have the swimmers travelling to Topeka, Kansas, and Lawrence, Kansas.
