Cyclones Tie For Fifth At UCF Challenge

ORLANDO, Fla. - The Iowa State women's golf team concluded the UCF Challenge in a tie for fifth place at 870 (281-286-303). Virginia held on to its lead going into the final round and won the tournament with an 850.

The tournament featured six teams, including Iowa State, ranked in the nation's top-50 according to Golfweek.

Freshman Celia Barquin made a move up the leaderboard to finish in a tie for sixth at even par 212 (69-71-72). It was Barquin's second top-10 finish of her career. Vanderbilt's Jennifer Hahn and Virginia's Lauren Diaz-Yi tied for individual medalist honors with a 54-hole score of 207.

Senior Chonlada Chayanun cracked the top-25 (T-24) at 217 (67-69-81). Junior Cajsa Persson tied for 42nd with rounds of 72-75-75 (222) and freshman Nattapan Siritrai carded a 224 for the three day event (T53).

The Cyclones get right back into action Feb.15-17 at the Lady Puerto Rico Classic.
