DES MOINES, Iowa- The Iowa State men's and women's track and field teams wrapped up action at two separate meets this weekend in Des Moines, Iowa and Tempe, Arizona.
Jalen Ford kicked off action for the Cyclones on Friday at the Jim Duncan Invitational in Des Moines. The freshman cleared 6-06.00 in the high jump to take second in the event.
Juniors Taylor Sanderson and Alyssa Gonzales both set new personal best marks in their respective events. Sanderson finished fifth in the discus with a toss of 143-04. Gonzalez won the women's 400-meter hurdles, breaking the tape in 1:00.24.
Freshman Logan Schneider won the men's 110-meter hurdles in 14.80, the fastest time in his outdoor collegiate career.
2015 NCAA Indoor champion Edward Kemboi started the Cyclones off at the Sun Angel Track Classic in Tempe, Arizona. The Eldoret, Kenya native set a personal-best mark in the 400-meter run, breaking the tape in 47.94.
 A trio of Cyclone men earned top-10 finishes in the 800-meter run. Brandon Wheat led the way finishing sixth in a personal best time of 1:51.47. Jacob Aune came in seventh and Matt Bevil ninth.
Tony Hardwick cruised to fifth in the men's 1.500-meter run in 3:52.18. Matthew Whitlatch followed him in with a 3:58.40.
Brian Biekert took sixth in the men's mile crossing the finish line in4:03.97, while Brian Llamas set a personal best time of 4:04.73 in the race.
The Cyclones return to action next weekend with the Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut, California and the Kansas Relays in Lawrence, Kansas. Check cyclones.com for results on the meets.
