Twelve Swimmers and Divers Earn Academic Honors

AMES, Iowa – The Iowa State swimming and diving team placed 12 student-athletes on the 2016 Academic All-Big 12 First Team, the conference announced Tuesday.
The Cyclone honorees are Megan Childs, Danica Delaquis, Julie Dickinson, Marissa Engel, Brooke Evensen, Alex Flatness, Kenzie Goudreau, Mary Kate Luddy, Laura Miksch, Maddie Rastall, Kasey Roberts and Savanna Townsend.
This year's awards marks the eighth-consecutive season in which the Iowa State swimming and diving team has had 10 or more representatives on the Academic All-Big 12 teams.
First team members consist of student-athletes who have earned a 3.20 or better GPA. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible for the award in their first year of academic residence.
The Cyclones are back in action for one last meet this season at the 2016 Big 12 Championships Feb. 24-27 in Austin, Texas. Iowa State will be chasing history as it seeks a second-straight top-two finish at the Big 12 Championship for the first time in program history.
