TUCSON, Ariz. – The No. 16 Iowa State women's golf team closed out the MountainView Collegiate in second place after carding an 866 after 54 holes this afternoon. The Cyclones finished just seven shots behind first-place Georgia (859) at 5-under.
The Cyclones were led by freshman Chayanit Wangmahaporn, who closed the tournament second overall after carding a career-best 54-hole score of 210, which ties Chonlada Chayanun and Cajsa Persson for second in school history. Wangmahaporn recorded a 70 and 72 on Friday and finished off the tournament tying her career-best with a 68. The second-place finish was also Wangmahaporn's top-career finish and the fourth top-10 of the season.
Celia Barquin was the second top-finisher for the Cyclones as she fired a 54-hole score of 218 and finished tied for 13th.
Of the 15 teams in the field, Iowa State was one of six ranked teams and finished second only to fifth-ranked Georgia.
