LAST TIME – Vs Omaha
The Cyclones won their home-opening meet in dominate fashion, besting Omaha by a score of 198-91. The win marks the seventh time in the last 10 years that Iowa State has won their home opener. Multiple Cyclones set personal records in the victory, including sophomore Emma Ruehle's time of 5:14.82 in her 500 freestyle victory.
THE OPPONENT – TCU Horned Frogs and South Dakota Coyotes
The Cyclones' will see their first Big 12 opponent of the year when TCU comes into Ames. The Horned Frogs have already faced a Big 12 team in Kansas, losing to the Jayhawks 188-110. In their other meet of the year, TCU topped Texas-Permian Basin.
South Dakota comes in having a handful of meets under their belt. The Coyotes won at Minnesota State, but lost to Kansas and Missouri State in a double dual in Lawrence. Following a loss against UNI, South Dakota hosted a double dual, where they went 1-1, topping St. Cloud State, but falling to South Dakota State.
The Cyclones currently hold winning records all-time against both of their opponents, 15-0 against South Dakota and 2-1-1 versus TCU. TCU and Iowa State tied in a dual meet in Fort Worth last year.
THE EVENT – Minnesota Diving Invitational
The Iowa State diving team returns to Minnesota for their diving invitational. Last year, only two Cyclone divers competed in the event, Katherine Mueller and Julie Dickinson. Last year's event featured personal bests for both divers, and Mueller will look to improve on her top-20 finishes on both springboards.
WHAT TO WATCH FOR – Diving
The Iowa State divers have been putting together a very good season to this point. They will have an opportunity to continue their success this weekend, competing both in the double dual and the invitational. Transfer Dana Liva has made quite an impact, placing in the top-two slots in three of four diving events this year. Meanwhile, Sydney Ronald will look to continue her own success, including taking the top spot on the three-meter board against Omaha. Katherine Mueller returns to Minneapolis looking to continue momentum from her personal best three-meter score, posted against Omaha.
ON DECK – Kansas Classic/Missouri Invite
The Iowa State swimmers' next meet will be a trip down to Topeka, Kansas to compete in the Kansas Classic. The Cyclones have placed in the top-three at the event in three of the last five years, including a third-place finish last year. The three-day meet will begin on Nov. 17 and continue through Nov. 19. The divers will head to Missouri for the Mizzou Invite from Nov. 16-18.
