A sixth jump of 20-2 1/2 allowed the Venezuelan to stick in second via a tiebreaker over Ayana Gales of UNLV.
Ariana Kuhn also finished strong in the women's weight throw. After sitting seventh at the halfway point of the competition, Kuhn made a jump up to fifth place with a toss of 59-3 1/2 on her fourth throw. Logan Schneider earned himself a second run in the 60-meter hurdles, as he advanced to the Saturday final of the event in eighth place with a personal-best of 8.04. Schneider, who ran his previous PR of 8.06 two weeks ago in Iowa City, moved up to seventh in school history in the event, passing Ethan Wilkins in the process.
In the multi-events, Emma Whigham had a strong day, posting four personal bests in the pentathlon on the way to a seventh-place finish via a career-high 3,539 points.
