AMES, Iowa – Jhoanmy Luque's win in the women's triple jump highlighted the final day of the Iowa State Classic Saturday at the Lied Recreation Athletic Center. Luque completed her weekend sweep of the horizontal jumping events, while moving into the top-5 in NCAA Division I for the season.
It was another day at the office for Jhoanmy Luque in the triple jump. The Venezuelan dominated the competition by recording the four-best marks of the day, including a season-best 44-0 (13.41m) for her winning mark. Luque's effort moves her up to No. 5 in Division I on the season in the women's triple jump.
The women's 800 saw Jasmine Staebler clock in fifth in 2:05.36, while Larkin Chapman impressed to finish second in her section and eighth overall in 2:06.97.
On the men's side, the Cyclone 800-meter runners showed well as Jaymes Dennison and Roshon Roomes clocked 1:48.98 and 1:49.05, respectively. The duo moved up in ISU's all-time top-10 for the event, with Dennison now sixth and Roomes seventh. Zach Black also clocked a personal best with his 1:51.32, while Frank Hayes got an indoor PR in 1:51.22.
In the men's mile, Dan Curts took fifth place with a personal best time of 4:02.75.

Iowa State will be at the Alex Wilson Invitational next Saturday, hosted by Notre Dame. Action begins in South Bend at 10 a.m. Central.
