URBANDALE, Iowa – Iowa State (9-15, 0-8 Big 12) fell to TCU (11-13, 1-7 Big 12) Friday afternoon at Life Time Fitness.
TCU took the doubles point, led by the team of Alexis Pereira and Donika Bashota defeating Iowa State's
Ekaterina Repina and
Margarita Timakova, 6-2 at No. 2 doubles. At No. 3 doubles,
Karen Alvarez and
Annabella Bonadonna had a 3-2 lead for the Cyclones, but the Frogs' Aleksa Cveticanin and Aleksandra Zenovka rallied to claim the final four games and take the doubles point with a 6-3 win.
The Cyclones got a strong performance from the No. 1 doubles team of
Maty Cancini and
Regina Espindola, who were ahead 5-3 before having to leave their match unfinished.
In singles, Bonadonna was able to claim the first set of her No. 5 match against Alexis Pereira 7-5. At No. 6 singles,
Karen Alvarez bounced back from a first-set loss to Stevie Kennedy to lead 4-2 before the set went unfinished.
TCU got its singles points at No. 1 from Cveticanin (def. Cancini 6-2, 6-4), No. 3 from Marie Norris (def. Espindola 6-2, 6-3) and No. 4 via Zenovka (def. Timakova 6-1, 6-4).
