AMES, Iowa – Iowa State track and field is back in action this weekend, with a group of student-athletes headed to the Frank Sevgine Husker Invitational, hosted by Nebraska, and Edwin Kurgat headed to New York City for the Millrose Games.
The Cyclones will have competitors in action at Nebraska on Friday evening and Saturday afternoon. On Friday, the weight throw will start action at 4:30 p.m., while Saturday competition begins with the 600-meter run at 12:40 p.m. There is no live video of the Husker Invitational, live results will be provided by Delta Timing, here.

Kurgat is part of a very strong 13-man field, with the headliner being 2016 Olympic 10,000m silver medalist Paul Tanui of Kenya. Another Olympian and fellow Cyclone joining Kurgat will be Hillary Bor. Other notables include U.S. Olympian Hassan Mead, NCAA Cross Country runner-up Joe Klecker of Colorado and former NCAA Champion Justyn Knight of Syracuse.
Kurgat has a personal best of 7:59.22 for 3,000 meters, but will look to be going lower, currently ranking as No. 2 in the nation at 5,000 meters after his 13:24.04 in December and fresh off a 3:59.26 anchor for ISU in the school-record distance medley relay last weekend at the Indiana Relays.
The crew at Nebraska consists of sprits/hurdles and throwers/jumpers. Katarina Vlahovic has had an incredible run of four-straight meets re-setting her personal best in the 60-meter hurdles and will get another shot this weekend.
Iowa State's young men's sprints group continue to show promise in the 4x400-meter relay and will get another chance at it on Saturday, with Gage Clay, Charlie Johnson, Nate Kennedy and Joven Nelson (three sophomores and a freshman) all slated to be in action for the team.
