THE SERIES
Iowa State leads South Dakota, 5-0, in the all-time series, which dates back to 2010.
The Cyclones are looking to defeat Marquette for the first time since 2010, which would snap a five-match skid against the Golden Eagles. The teams haven't met since 2015.
DEPTH ADDED TO ROSTER
Iowa State added a trio of players to the roster for the spring season.
Thasaporn Naklo returned to Ames this spring after a strong freshman campaign in 2019-20 in which she became the highest-ranked player in school history in both singles (No. 72) and doubles (No. 48).
Freshman Miska Kadleckova and sophomore Sofia Cabezas arrived on campus recently and will boaster an already talented lineup.
Kadleckova has played the Wimbledon and US Open juniors tournaments and had a career-high ITF junior ranking of 82.
Cabezas hails from Valencia, Venezuela like teammate Maty Cancini and also ranked among the best 100 junior players in the world.
The rest of the roster from the fall remains intact.
CANCINI CONTINUES CLIMB
With her senior season cut short due to COVID-19, Maty Cancini decided to return and has set herself up to finish her career at the top of a number of Cyclone record lists.
She is 13 victories shy of first on the overall career wins list, while also sitting 16 wins away from first and eight doubles victories away.
LISTEN UP 🗣️
"Our team is unbelievably excited and grateful for the opportunity to be able to play this spring. There has been so much uncertainty with sports this year and we are humbled to reach the point of competing this weekend!
We have such a young team – only one player has completed a full season on our roster. With that said, I am very excited about the talent on our team and the opportunity that lies ahead for our program. We have a lot of ability and if we can continue to develop as a team, we can do great things this year.
Overall, I think everyone is as excited as ever for just the ability to compete as a team again. Our team and staff can't wait to get out on the court and represent Cyclone Nation!"
