AMES, Iowa. – The Iowa State swimming and diving team (3-1, 0-0 Big 12) takes on Omaha (1-0, 0-0 Summit) this Friday, Nov. 5 at 4 p.m. Iowa State looks to nail down their 20th program win over Omaha with the dual.Â
A live stream of the dual can be found at the Iowa State Swimming and Diving Facebook page. Iowa State divers will compete on the one- and three-meter in exhibition.
THE OPPONENT- Omaha
The Cyclones enter with a 19-0 record over the Mavericks. Last season, Iowa State won by a margin of 108 points, the third-most over Omaha. Omaha comes into the matchup with a dual win over Nebraska Wesleyan and after taking second in a meeting against Air Force and Colorado School of Mines.Â
LAST TIME- Nebraska
Iowa State won four events against Nebraska while improving season bests in 11 of 17 events competed in this season. Ashley Bengtson earned Big 12 Swimmer of the Week and Michelle Schlossmacher Smith claimed Big 12 Diver of the Week for their strong performances. Sydney Jackson notably trimmed over 10 seconds off her 1000 free time to post 10:28.26.
WHAT TO WATCH FOR- Individual MedleyÂ
Junior Trinity Gilbert continues putting up 200 IM season bests dual after dual, most recently dropping the previous best by over a second. In the last outing, the Cyclones improved the top-three 200 IM season times. The Omaha dual will mark the first time of the season Iowa State will compete in the 400 IM. IMer Lucia Rizzo sits four points away from securing 500 career points entering the dual.
ON DECK- Mizzou Invite and Kansas Classic
Next up the divers head to Columbia, Mo. for the Mizzou Invite Nov. 17-19 and the swimmers take on the Kansas Classic in Topeka, Kan. Nov. 19-21 for the first championship-style meets of the season.
